A dual winner and placed at Group-race level for William Haggas, the five-year-old lost his way in the second half of last season and was subsequently sold by the powerful Shadwell operation, changing hands for 170,000 guineas at Tattersalls in October.
He made his reappearance in a fiercely competitive handicap on the Knavesmire and there was much to like about the way he travelled into contention halfway up the straight before fading late on and passing the post in sixth. He should strip fitter for the run and better can be expected next time.
