Syrian could make the leap to Listed company next time after making a winning bow at Yarmouth last week. The Michael Bell-trained colt was a one-and-a-half-length winner at the seaside venue on his racecourse debut and connections are now looking to take the next step up the ladder. "We are looking at a few options for him but the Washington Singer (the Usk Valley Stud Stakes) at Newbury on August 15 could be his next port of call," said Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing."He's a lovely horse, the kind of horse you can dream about, but he's only run once and we don't really know how good a race that was."It's just a question of whether we go for novice, conditions or Listed company next, but I think the Newbury race would definitely be under consideration."
