Clive Brittain is delighted to have top Japanese jockey Kosei Miura aboard Jira in the inaugural £250,000 Tattersalls Timeform Millions Sprint at Newmarket. The young ace has already made an impression on his flying visit to these shores having had two winners from just a handful of rides. The veteran Newmarket trainer also saddles Iptkaar, the mount of Chris Catlin, as he chases a lion's share of the big pot."Kosei has been in and ridden work for us. He is a very talented young man. It's nice to have him on our side and he certainly won't be tripping her up. Both fillies are really well. Jira's form gives her a bit of a shout and Iptkaar is an improving filly who's coming through the gears," said Brittain. The Richard Hannon stable has a record second to none in this type of event and the Everleigh team rely on Chepstow maiden scorer Magnus Thrax to give them another bumper pay day."He goes there with a real chance. He's in good form and he won his maiden well. We quite like him and we think that he's a nice colt," said the trainer's son and assistant Richard Hannon junior."The maiden he ran in at Newbury first time out was probably the strongest maiden of the season with the likes of Arcano and Showcasing in there. The six furlongs suits him well and he won't mind the good to firm ground. If he runs well, we will certainly have to consider bringing him back for the Tattersalls Timeform Million. "We've had some luck with the owner Michael Pescod in races like this before, particularly when Minor Vamp landed a big pot at the Curragh last year, and I'm hopeful that Magnus Thrax can continue the trend."James Fanshawe is looking for a solid run from Society Rock, who followed up a promising debut effort to take a Nottingham maiden last month."Society Rock seems very well in himself at the moment. He has always looked quite a nice horse and he definitely showed that he had come on for his first run when winning at Nottingham last time out," said the Newmarket handler. "He was still a bit keen early on but, once he got the hang of things, he was fine. He goes to Newmarket in good order and I am very much looking forward to seeing how he gets on."
