Towcester is a great track for a slow horse, and the ability to stay the trip is really crucial. It’s a massive and relentless pull from the bottom far corner, where the back straight ends, and up the hill to the winning post. If you’re not on horse that’s assured of getting the trip, it can seem like a nigh-on-impossible task and plenty don’t make it home. Equally if you get your fractions right and are sure of your horse’s stamina, you can take your time and do your best work at the end when things get tough for the early pace setters.
