Rachel Alexandra broke the Belmont Park course record in winning the Mother Goose Stakes by an astonishing margin on Saturday evening.
The Jess Jackson-owned filly strolled home to win by nearly 20 lengths in the Grade One event to follow up her win over the colts in the Preakness Stakes. Sent off a long odds-on shot, it seems a shame that Jackson has ruled out a Breeders' Cup bid due to the Polytrack surface at Santa Anita.
Jackson said: "How about that! I am a modest guy. I was hoping for maybe 10 lengths. She is a special filly, she is a champion, she is a lady. We don't know where her bottom is. She has beauty combined with speed, (she is) so fast."
He added: "I think she's the best three-year-old right now. She just broke a track record and she wasn't even asked."
The field was reduced to three due to two non-runners, meaning Rachel Alexandra was sent off at a prohibitive price of 1-20, but trainer Steve Asmussen was pleased with the outcome nevertheless.
"I can't say enough about Calvin Borel's ride," Asmussen said. "They took it right to her with the fast early pace, she was odds-on and had all the pressure in the world. He just let them go about their business and did what's best for her, and he needs to keep doing that.
"To have a horse like her in your barn, well, I am really fortunate. She's a great athlete. She's just extremely endearing to you. She has a soft and kind look and feel," he told

Elsewhere in America, Breeders' Cup winner Zenyatta kept her unbeaten record intact in the Vanity Handicap at Hollywood Park.
Despite conceding nearly a stone to all her rivals, Zenyatta cruised home to win by two and a half lengths under Mike Smith.
