No rush to decide next move for shock Ascot winner Powerful Glory

Richard Fahey and owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum will “let the dust settle” before making a decision on the future of shock 200-1 British Champions Sprint winner Powerful Glory.

The three-year-old colt became the longest-priced winner of a British Group One when scything through the field under Jamie Spencer.

A Group Two winner in the Mill Reef as a juvenile, this season had not gone to plan and he had a breathing operation after his seasonal debut.

It was a race against time for Fahey to get him fit for Champions Day and the only suitable race he could run in was over five furlongs at Beverley, in which he finished last of five.

Clearly back to his best at Ascot, the Malton handler would love to continue training Powerful Glory given he has run just five times to date, but he is also now a stallion prospect for his owner.

“He’s come out of the race fine, not a bother on him,” said Fahey.

“I’ve already spoken to Sheikh Rashid and what we’ve decided to do is let the dust settle a bit and see what happens.

“He’s so unexposed, I’d love to keep on training him but obviously it’s an important decision to make.

“But the important thing now is we’re happy with him and we were just pleased to get that win.”
