Into The Sky likely to drop in trip after Guineas effort

Into The Sky is likely to drop back in trip following his fine effort to finish fourth in the 2000 Guineas on Saturday.
Following a productive juvenile campaign that saw Jim Boyle’s star youngster prove his shock debut success at Newbury was no fluke by finishing second in the Group Two Mill Reef Stakes, the Starman colt made his three-year-old debut in Classic company over the Rowley Mile.
After racing on the pace from the start, Into The Sky faded late on but emerged with plenty of credit, leaving connections with plenty to look forward to.
Boyle said: “I’m happy with him, he’s a bit tired but he put a shift in and he’s entitled to be.
“We’re delighted with him so we’ll take stock for a few days and not make any rushed decisions regarding where we go next.
“He proved that our faith in him was justified, so we’re thrilled.”
While keen not to commit to future targets, the Epsom-based trainer feels his charge could be more effective over shorter distances.
He added: “The likelihood is you’ll see him back over seven (furlongs) and possibly even six at some point. I think seven is the likely next step, but we haven’t made any firm decisions and there are lots of options open for now.
“That (Royal Ascot) is the obvious looking target, but it’s not set in stone by any means.”
