Richard Hannon believes Angel's Pursuit will be seen in a better light when upped to six furlongs for the TNT July Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.
The son of 2005 July Cup hero Pastoral Pursuits has been beaten at Royal Ascot and Sandown since making a winning debut over the minimum trip at Newmarket in May.
However, Hannon, who is seeking a fourth July Stakes triumph, said on his website
www.richardhannonracing.tv: "Angel's Pursuit only got going when they met the rising ground at Sandown and as I suspected he confirmed that he was crying out for a sixth furlong."
The handler added: "He had been unlucky in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot where he ran up the back of beaten horses but he is now really starting to settle so much better.
"He cost us 190,000 guineas at the Doncaster Breeze-Up - he was far and away the most outstanding colt in the sale and Godolphin were the underbidders - and we have certainly not lost faith in him."
