Charlie McBride will aim Blue Maiden towards the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster after her fine display in the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday. The daughter of Medicean was sent off the 66-1 rank outsider for the Group Three contest but despite being under pressure a long way from home, she stayed on strongly to go down by just a length to Long Lashes."We're absolutely over the moon and I was speechless after the race. She was our first runner in a Group race and she's finished second so it's fantastic," said Newmarket-based McBride."We've had a phenomenal year with our two-year-olds and this filly has just progressed each time she's run. I suppose she'll go to Doncaster next for the May Hill Stakes and then, because she's not in the Fillies' Mile at Ascot, we would probably rest her and get her ready for next year."Eddie (Creighton) said after the race that she was the first one off the bridle and we really rode her from behind to try and come through beaten horses and get black type."She's got good speed and has stayed on well at the end."I'm not very experienced at dealing with things at this level but for a small trainer to have a filly like this is a dream."
