Horse racing tips: Dave Nevison's best bets and Cesarewitch tip

Our in-form pundit Dave Nevison has tipped two 14/1 winners in recent days and can’t wait for a fantastic Group 1 card at Newmarket this Saturday live on Racing TV. It’s a fantastic afternoon at Newmarket and I feel it’s likely there will be a short priced 2000 Guineas favourite if Native Trial does the business in the Dewhurst Stakes. He still looked green in Ireland last time but was very impressive.
I’ll be hoping to get the each-way yankee up again with these four fancies below.
3.15 York: Commanche Falls
Tom Thurgood
Finished: 2ndSP: 10/3
He is the class act in this race and can improve on his recent seventh place in the Ayr Gold Cup.
A draw right on the wing did not help his cause in that race and he never got to challenge. However, Commanche Falls is drawn bang in the middle of this field with pace around him - he should be in the perfect spot for a York sprint as they often come up the track in an arrowhead formation.
He has been dropped 1lb for the Ayr run, which is generous as he finished third in his group and met trouble in running on a crowded rail.
This soft ground is clearly no issue as he won the Stewards’ Cup on heavy going and Connor Beasley has won on him eight times already.
3.35 Newmarket: Calling The Wind

Finished: 1stSP: 11/10
Willie Mullins bids to win this race for the fourth time in a row, but Richard Hughes might have a horse who can see off the Irish juggernaught.
Calling The Wind certainly looks to have what it takes for this prize, having shown he stays even further when winning the two-and-a-half mile handicap at Glorious Goodwood in good style this summer.
He has only had one run since then, when beaten by a rapidly diminishing neck over one and a half miles having allowed the winner to get first run. If anything, that was a perfect result as he is off the same mark here. He showed that he has speed as well as stamina there, which is more than some in this event.
Calling The Wind gets on well with Pat Dobbs, is drawn high – where most recent winners have been berthed - and ground is seemingly immaterial to him. He has a lot in his favour.
4.25 York: Buriram

Finished: 1stSP: 10/11
I tipped Buriram last time and I think he was withdrawn because of the fast ground. I’m going with him again as it seems his trainer shares my view that two miles is what he wants now.
Buriram didn’t stay in a two-and-a-half-mile marathon on his penultimate start, but has been doing his best work at the death in a few 14-furlong handicaps recently.
There is nothing here that looks to be hiding much from the handicapper so, if Buriram does improve for the trip, he may be in a good place here. Gumball and others will ensure a decent pace.
5.00 York: Tarroob
Andy Stephens
Finished: 2ndSP: 10/3
If she improves for her wind operation she could be well-in.
Tarroob is already a winner and has proven her value for the paddocks, so the fact that William Haggas has sent her for the procedure at this stage of the season makes me think she has upside on the track before she eventually goes to the breeding shed.
She’s lightly-raced but made a promising debut last season on soft ground at Doncaster so should have no issues with this surface, while she has shown her willingness and confirmed ability with two narrow defeats on her latest starts.
The market will give us a clue, but Tarroob may well be a plunge horse here and I’ll be looking very closely at her on Saturday morning.
