Stevie Gee bounced back to form to win a thrilling renewal of the Lloyd Motor Group Carlisle Bell in the hands of Joe Fanning.Sent off at 20-1 for the highlight of Carlisle's season, the former Listed winner was held up towards the rear in the early stages before being unleashed with a challenge down the outside of runners from the two-furlong marker. His progress was gradual rather than rapid, but he found plenty for pressure and eventually managed to get up by half a length from Motafarred, with Bold Marc the same distance away in third.A delighted Swinbank said: "That was my 400th winner and my first was with Batoutoftheblue in 2001 so we haven't done too bad. This is the first time he's run over a mile on turf, but he's got it well and perhaps that is what he's wanted."He added: "He was in the handicap and was sure to get a run and the ground was all right, so we took a chance. I don't know what I'll do with him now but he could go to Newmarket for another mile race in a fortnight."Swinbank did not have to wait too long for his 401st winner as 11-2 shot Honimiere got off the mark at the sixth attempt in the European Breeders' Fund Fillies' Handicap under Dale Gibson.Undoubtedly the most impressive success of the day was that of Brian Ellison's Overrule in the Grolsch Cumberland Plate. The five-year-old may have been sent off at 10-1 but he would have traded much shorter in running as he cruised up to challenge for the lead at the furlong pole.Once Neil Brown pushed the button, the response was electric as he powered away to beat Yes Mr President by five lengths in the style of a well-handicapped horse.Ellison said: "I've always thought a lot of him and thought he'd win some nice races for us. We had thought about running him in the Northumberland Plate but he might not have got in, so we've come here instead. I don't know what the handicapper will do with him now so we'll have to see."
