Shes Perfect likely to be seen next in the sales ring

Charlie Fellowes hopes Shes Perfect’s finest hour comes in the sales ring later this year having admitted defeat in his quest to return her to the track before she is due to go under the auctioneer’s hammer in December.

A star performer for the Newmarket handler last season, she became something of a cult figure due to both her passionate syndicate of owners fronted by social media influencer Basher Watts and her underdog exploits.

First past the post in last year’s French Guineas, she momentarily gave her connections memories of a lifetime until the stewards intervened, but it was a performance that assured her status as a top-class operator and even saw admirers from Japan come knocking with cheque book in hand prior to a return to France for the Prix de Diane.

Despite an encouraging run behind the all-conquering Blue Bolt at Goodwood, she has failed to repeat her three-year-old heroics in three outings at four and after being on the sidelines since disappointing at Royal Ascot, Fellowes admitted her on=track days for the Bedford House team are sadly over.

Fellowes said: “There isn’t really anything out there for her so it’s very very unlikely we’ll see her on a racetrack before she goes to the sales. She took a really long time to get over Ascot and just wasn’t herself.

“She’s literally come back to herself in the last two or three weeks and showing us the filly we really know – she’s been fresh and well, looked a picture and moving great.

“But I have a feeling she has probably run out of time and there’s nothing obvious to run her in. I’d say she’s run her last race before the sales.”

Shes Perfect will be offered for sale during the Sceptre Session at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale and Fellowes is predicting a raucous atmosphere in sales arena as the filly’s current owners bid goodbye to the daughter of Sioux Nation

Fellowes added: “It’s been a roller-coaster ride, but hopefully the final leg of the journey at Tattersalls in December will be a real high point and hopefully she makes a lot of money and goes to one of the big studs and it’s a happy ending.

“I know there will be a lot of the syndicate there in attendance and if Tattersalls think Clive Washbourn can make some noise, wait until 50 of Basher’s lot are in there cheering on Shes Perfect.”
