Our Tipstar champion Katie Midwinter likes four runners on Saturday's Grade One card at Haydock. Enjoy all the action live on Racing TV!
The Henry Daly-trained novice made light work of his opponents on hurdling debut with an emphatic 11-length victory at Stratford. He's back up in class now but he has previous form at Grade Two level and proved his credentials at this level when fourth in the competitive Aintree bumper.
He'd finished fourth in a Listed contest at Newbury prior to that and in front of the exciting prospect and recent winner Meatloaf.
The five-year-old is the class act here and should take all the beating.
Irish-raider Carnfunnock drops back in trip following his third-place finish behind the now 147-rated chaser Giovinco at Perth in April.
He should be better suited to this distance and Stuart Crawford's son of Getaway has useful bumper form to his name, including impressive performances behind the likes of Adamantly Chosen and Sandor Clegane as well as Springwell Bay and Facile Vega.
There could be further improvement to come and this six-year-old gelding could still be ahead of his mark of 128.
The consistent Willie Mullins-trained gelding has finished in the first three in each of his past twenty starts after finishing sixth on debut as a three-year-old in a Vichy bumper.
The National Hunt Chase winner has placed in a number of competitive handicaps including the Irish Grand National and, most recently, the English equivalent at Aintree.
Despite this trip being on the shorter side for the strong stayer, he is well clear on ratings and is the most experienced chaser in this field, so should be capable of outclassing his rivals.
A £28,000 purchase for the Evan Williams yard in May, Carbon King had produced a number of promising performances for previous connections when trained in Ireland, including a Limerick victory in which he beat the now 152-rated Buddy One by 12 lengths when in receipt of 6lb.
Although he is yet to show the same level of form for his new connections, the significant step up in trip to an extended three miles - as well as a 7lb lower mark than when seen on British debut - could allow him to rediscover form and continue his progression. He's an enticing each-way price at 50-1.
