Brian Meehan would like to see a dry spell in Yorkshire as he prepares his exciting juvenile Radiohead for the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York on August 21.Meehan had hoped to get another run into his Norfolk Stakes winner in the either the Prix Robert Papin or the Phoenix Stakes, but ground conditions in France and Ireland went against him. Now he will try to emulate previous two-year-old Nunthorpe winners such as Kingsgate Native and Lyric Fantasy.Meehan said: "The ground was a bit against us and what not the other weekend, but he's grand and we are looking forward to York. It was encouraging that a two-year-old won the Nunthorpe as recently as two years ago and that is what we've got to be thinking."He added: "It's not good for anyone if the ground is too soft, but all we can do is play that one by ear."Meehan also houses impressive July Stakes winner Arcano, recently purchased by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum."Everything is going grand with Arcano and the plan with him remains the Prix Morny at Deauville (August 23)," added Meehan. One who has been absent from the track for some while is winter Derby favourite Crowded House, but a return is not far off now as Meehan explained: "He's good now, we decided to give him a break for most of the summer and we've just made an entry for the Champion Stakes (Newmarket, October 17) today. It's a backend plan for him really."The Derby was all a bit of a rush and sometimes you've just got to leave them a bit."
