Aidan O'Brien continued his remarkable record in the Phoenix Stakes with Alfred Nobel securing him a 10th success in the last 12 runnings of the Group One contest at the Curragh. The juvenile was sent off at 5-4 having landed the Railway Stakes over course and distance on his latest outing and was settled at the rear of the field by Johnny Murtagh. His stable companion Air Chief Marshal, ridden by the trainer's son Joseph, made a bold fist of things from the front but Murtagh oozed confidence once angling wide of the field and as soon as he pushed the button, his mount picked up well to score by half a length.Air Chief Marshal ran a fine race under his teenage jockey to fill the runner-up spot, while the previously unbeaten Walk On Bye could only finish third.
