A crack at the Prix Jacques le Marois over a mile at Deauville next month is being considered for Famous Name.
The Dansili colt, trained by Dermot Weld, has proved very effective when dropped back to shorter distances after being campaigned over further, where his efforts included a second in the French Derby and in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
"Famous Name is in good nick and will probably head to the Jacques le Marois at Deauville. He's shown really good form over a mile so we may well give him a shot there," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah.
Weld would also be happy to run the colt over a mile again, adding on At The Races: "Famous Name is a very consistent colt and we thought we'd bring him back to a mile at the Curragh on Derby day where he won the Celebration Stakes very impressively.
"Then he went and won the Keeneland International over an extended nine furlongs with another nice performance. We haven't decided his definite plan. He's in the Arlington Million but I would say he is more likely to go to France and run in the Prix Jacques le Marois.
"He ran a superb race in the Prix du Jockey Club last year as he came from stall 17 and no horse has ever won from that draw. He was only beaten a head so on his first trip to France he ran a superb race and we're pretty keen to go back with him."
Weld's Profound Beauty is set to have a second crack at the Melbourne Cup later this year. The daughter of Danehill finished fifth in the 'race that stops a nation' last November and is unbeaten in two starts during the current campaign.
"She's a lovely mare and I think she's possibly better this year than last year," Weld went on.
"To win a Melbourne Cup you need a lot of luck and you need a lot of luck just to get them there sound to take part in the race. She has all the credentials and ran an excellent race last year so provided the ground is safe she could represent us very well."
