Jack Mitchell has escaped serious injury after a fall at Leicester on Wednesday evening which caused the abandonment of the final race. The apprentice jockey parted company with Towy Boy soon after leaving the stalls in the Quorn Handicap and as one of the two racecourse doctors accompanied him to Leicester Royal Infirmary, officials decided to cancel the finale as the doctor would not have arrived back at the racecourse in time.Mitchell's father Philip said: "He's fine and came home last night after some precautionary examinations. Obviously he's sore and his neck was the thing they were concerned about."He went on: "He got a kick in the back and there is some bruising but the chief consultant said he's fine and the damage is all muscular, so basically it's up to Jack when he feels he's ready to ride again."I would say with a little bit of luck he could be back Saturday or Sunday."
