Niall "Slippers" Madden will have to endure a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a fractured arm on Sunday evening.The Grand National-winning rider had stepped in for the injured Paul Carberry on Carlesimo at Kilbeggan on Saturday, but his mount crashed out at the first fence of the Hackett's Bookmakers Handicap Chase."He had the operation Sunday evening and it went good, so Niall is in good spirits," said his agent, Andrew Kelly."The doctors haven't given him any time frame, as yet, but he broke his arm in two places and there is still plenty of swelling."There isn't any definite dates of recovery but it's going to be a while anyway - a month, maybe two months."
