Jessica Harrington sprung a 25-1 surprise when Long Lashes won the Listed Ballygallon Stud Stakes at the Curragh. The only newcomer in the seven-runner field, the filly travelled beautifully throughout for Fran Berry and stormed clear as soon as a gap appeared in the final furlong to score by two and a half lengths from Elusive Galaxy.Harrington said: "We knew she was smart, but I was worried about the soft ground. Fran says we should run her in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, but she is not entered and we will now have to consider supplementing her."Kingsfort (100-30) defied a drift in the market to make a hugely promising debut in the Kildare Village EBF Maiden, the opening race of the Irish Derby meeting.Aidan O'Brien introduced a regally-bred newcomer in Viscount Nelson, but he was no match for the impressive winner.Trained by Kevin Prendergast and ridden by Declan McDonogh, Kingsfort was always going well and was not hard pushed to beat Stunning View by two lengths, with Viscount Nelson third."He's a very smart horse and I think he will make a National Stakes horse and we'll try and guide his way there," said Prendergast. "We might give him a run before then. He was very professional for a horse that has never been away from home."O'Brien did not have to wait long to get on the scoresheet, however, as Cabaret justified 5-4 favouritism in the Kildare Village EBF Fillies Maiden, beating Roan Inish by three and a half lengths.Tom Hogan's Spinning Wings absolutely bolted up in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Derby under Shane Foley.
