Godolphin inmate Kite Wood is likely to take his place in the line-up for next Saturday's Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury - providing conditions are in his favour. The Galileo colt got off the mark for the campaign in impressive style in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket last month and Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford reports the three-year-old to be in rude health."He's going to have a look at the Geoffrey Freer next weekend at Newbury and if he didn't run there because the ground was too firm we'd wait for York and the Great Voltigeur," Crisford told At The races."He worked really well on Saturday and Frankie (Dettori) was impressed by him, so he's on song."Al Zir looks a promising recruit following his impressive debut success at Newmarket earlier this week and connections are now keen to step him up in grade."He's always shown himself to be a very natural athlete and from day one he has looked really good. In his last piece of work before he ran was very good so we went there full of confidence," Crisford continued."He travelled really well in the race and it was just a question of what would happen when Frankie asked him to go. Fortunately he showed a tidy turn of foot and looks like a very nice prospect."I think we'll look at the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster or a conditions race at the same meeting and use that as his next port of call."Crisford also had news of Gladiatorus, who was forced to miss Saturday's Arlington Million after suffering a setback."Sadly he missed the Arlington Million because he had a corn in his foot and if he's ready in time the Prix Jacques le Marois would be a possibility, but it's more likely he'll go for the Prix du Moulin," Crisford added.
