Hannon considers Paco options

Paco Boy could step back up in trip after his fast-finishing fourth in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on Friday.Having won the Queen Anne over a mile at Royal Ascot, Richard Hannon's four-year-old appeared to find the early pace a little too hot over six furlongs before staying on late in the day. A return to a mile in the Sussex Stakes is under serious consideration - as is a trip to France."We will look at the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on July 29, but if we don't fancy that we'll run in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on August 9. The six and a half furlongs on ground likely to be on the soft side would be perfect," the trainer told his website, www.richardhannonracing.tv.Hannon was delighted with the performance of Plum Pudding, who defied a welter burden of 9st 10lb to win the Bunbury Cup, and will now consider a step up in grade for his charge."It was a magnificent effort from the front, and he is likely to carry his 3lb penalty in the totesport Mile at Goodwood," Hannon continued."He was, in effect, 2lb well in at Newmarket and no doubt the handicapper will put us up again after this, so we'll have to take our chance at Goodwood."I would also enter him for the Group Two Hungerford Stakes at Newbury on August 15. It is seven furlongs again and just down the road and, though he is a gelding, he deserves the chance for a bit of Pattern-race glory."
