Faye Bramley is eyeing a return to Cheltenham on New Year’s Day with Glengouly following his heroics at the course on Saturday.
Racing from out of the handicap in the Support The Hunt Family Fund December Gold Cup, the former Willie Mullins inmate made every yard of the running under a fine ride by champion jockey Sean Bowen.
Put up 10lb by the assessor, Bramley is now looking at the £100,000 Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase back at Prestbury Park.
“We’re not really over it yet, we’re all still on cloud nine!” she said. “We rode him out this morning and it’s like he knows he’s won, he’s bright eyed and marching along, really enjoying himself.
“We’ll be looking to go back to Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, the handicapper put him up 10lb and I thought he might go up a bit more actually.
“We’ll keep going in the handicaps, he’s obviously improved so we can keep going at that level – which is not easy!”
