Horse racing tips from Angus McNae: 28-1 chance can strike in Scottish National

Angus McNae likes one at 28/1 in the Coral Scottish Grand National while our presenter also believes we could see a top-class prospect in action on the Flat at Newbury. Don't miss a moment live on Racing TV and Racing TV Extra.
With Newbury and Ayr’s big meeting being moved to Sunday because of the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, there is lots to go at. I have five selections for you.
This half-brother to Enable holds Dante and Derby entries and looks set to go very well on his seasonal return.
He shaped very well on his only start last season when second under just a hands and heels ride at Ascot. He chased home La Barossa - who finished second in the Craven Stakes this week - and to some extent allowed him an advantage that day by allowing him to quicken in what was a steadily-run and tactical race. It's reasonable to rate him as being at least as good as the winner.
The well-bred Snow Lantern will provide stern opposition, but I believe Derab is a top-class prospect who can win on only his second career start.
Everything looks to be in place for this horse to win here.
She arrives in good form, winning two starts back and then finishing second to an improver last time out. She looks to be the only front-runner in this small field too at a track that suits prominent racers.
She is dropping back slightly in trip - also a positive - and she is trained by the leading trainer at the track in Paul Nicholls.
At around 7/1 this progressive colt looks to hold a solid chance in this Classic trial.
He has won his last two starts - both at Chelmsford - and while collateral form would not give much encouragement, the time figures he produced tell us that he is already useful. He seemed to improve for being ridden more prominently at Chelmsford and I would expect a similar ride here.
This looks to be a strong race and Chindit possesses the best form, but Fundamental is race-fit and improving rapidly. He holds an entry in the 2000 Guineas and a win here could put him into that Classic picture.
I covered his success at Kempton last time and was really impressed with the turn of foot that he showed.
He booted clear of his rivals in a race that was run at a muddling gallop, and a study of the Coursetrack sectionals show that he deserves a big sectional upgrade. In short, he was miles better than the bare result and promises to be much better in a strongly-run race which he looks sure to get here.
This is a big step-up in grade for a lightly-raced horse, but he is already very talented and I have no doubt that there is better to come.
At 28/1 with Bet365, this horse is well worth supporting.
In my opinion, he has the best single piece of form in the race courtesy of his fourth-place finish in the Ladbrokes Trophy. That run behind Cloth Cap showed his abundant stamina and this four-mile trip will be no problem.
The reason that he is a such a big price is presumably because he unseated in the Welsh National subsequently and then pulled up at Warwick just a week later.
He has now been freshened up though and has been dropped to a mark 4lb lower than his Ladbrokes Trophy rating. Unexposed at this sort of trip with good form to his name, he should be backed at his current price.
