Was well backed and signalled she might be an improved performer switched to Mick Easterby from Harry Dunlop when she won at Wolverhampton last November.
She certainly didn’t enjoy the best of trips on that occasion and a 5lb rise in the weights looks very fair. I don’t think the switch back to turf or the step back up in trip are negatives.
It seems highly unlikely that her in-form trainer would send her to Newbury unfit for this first run of the season, or have taken the trouble to acquire the services of the excellent Serena Brotherton, who did us a winning favour last week. The market is likely to provide more clues.
Have a day at the races on us. Click here for more details He hit form at this time last year and his latest effort suggests he is again ready to peak. He only gave best inside the last two furlongs last time at Goodwood and stuck on well enough to suggest his turn is near.
He was running off marks in the low 90s last term and put up his best performance of the season over this course and distance off 93 in August. He runs off 86 on Thursday and Ross Coakley, who rode him for his latest win, is back on board.
Able Kane looks to be drawn where the pace is and should be able to get a prominent position, which usually helps in decent sized fields here. At an each-way price he looks worth a bet.
Went into my notebook after an encouraging first run for the yard at Ascot in early May, seemingly on rain softened ground that went against her. Hopefully, the fact that she has not run since is not a worry as this slightly lower grade and less competitive handicap provides a good opportunity.
Her stable has hit form in the meantime and on she is a 1lb lower than at Ascot on ground that will suit. I have no concern with Saffie Osborne taking over from Tom Marquand and am looking forward to a good run.
