Dave Nevison's Saturday tips: go leftfield with 20-1 Twiston-Davies' Imperial Cup contender

Dave Nevison struck twice last week from three selections and has an ach-way fancy in the Imperial Cup at Sandown.

2.25 Sandown - Mr Antolini each-way at 20-1 with Paddy Power (five places):

Nicky Henderson runs two in the Matchbook Imperial Cup and all week long I have been trying to split Call Me Lord or Whatswrongwithyou.

In the end I couldn’t call it, so have decided to go leftfield and take a chance each-way with the improving Mr Antolini.

Nigel Twiston-Davies has had Mr Antolini for only his last two starts but he has definitely wrung serious improvement out of him, winning at Leicester before a really good effort at Huntingdon behind the useful Azzerti.

He has gone up another 4lbs for that effort, but I believe that he could still have improvement and under my usual recommendation of taking the greatest number of places offered with the firms I will be disappointed if a place at least is not achieved.

Jamie Bargary will be able to claim all his 3lb, too.

4.10 Sandown - Silverhow at 2-1 with Bet365:

It has been a frustrating time for Colin Tizzard followers this winter but all the signs are that the spring will be a lot better (and may mean the yard have a good Cheltenham).

Silverhow’s performances this season completely follow the trajectory of the yard in that he started off pretty awfully in December but looked to be getting the hang of fences when successful, albeit in a small field, at Wincanton last month.

He hit form at Sandown in March of last year over hurdles and held it through the spring and while he won’t be a star I believe the 3lbs for the last win doesn’t do him justice.

7.45 Chelmsford - Soldier In Action:

Had what looked like a pipe opener at Wolverhampton where he ran really well conceding weight in a hot handicap.

He is proven on the all-weather, which might give him the edge over Dal Harraild who is his principle rival.

Mark Johnston is having winners at present as he readies his team for the imminent turf season.
