Cesare bids to confirm the promise of his excellent reappearance in the Group Two totesport.com Summer Mile at Ascot.
James Fanshawe's charge is a regular in this race having been successful in 2007 and third 12 months ago, and took part in the contest when it was run at Lingfield in 2006 as a Group Three. He belied almost a year-long absence to beat all bar Paco Boy in the Queen Anne at the Royal meeting last time.
"He ran a blinder on his comeback, he's such a pleasure to be involved with, he has such a good attitude and he comes alive at Ascot so we are back again," said Chris Richardson, managing director of the eight-year-old's owners Cheveley Park Stud.
"He had a setback in the spring, it's hard to believe an eight-year-old can pop a splint but he did, it knocked him back time-wise but that has cooled out and we know he runs well fresh. We just hope he is feeling in good form and that first race hasn't taken too much out of him."
Mike de Kock expects Imbongi to have improved from his win in the Criterion Stakes as he steps up in class. The South African challenger drifted alarmingly in the betting before his first start in England, but Kevin Shea brought him home for a length-and-a-quarter win.
De Kock said: "I was delighted with him last time, it was a hell of a win I thought. We feel that he has come on a little bit and he is better in his coat now. He has got solid Group One form of his own back home.
"He's not a horse that gives you a great amount of confidence in the paddock because he always gets a little sweaty but that is just the way he is. We've got a chance, he's fit and he's well, but I think William's (Haggas) horse, Aqlaam, could be the one to beat as he ran really well when he was third in the Queen Anne."
Dream Eater could only finish fourth behind Imbongi and trainer Andrew Balding said: "We were disappointed at Newmarket but he takes his racing well and seems in decent form. He enjoys his racing and wherever he goes he's picking up decent prize-money. He deserves a win and his turn will come, but I doubt it will be Saturday."
