Karl Burke had to shelve plans to run Silenceofthewind at Royal Ascot due to a qualification issue, but he gained some compensation with victory at Newcastle. The Middleham handler wanted to send the son of Eddington for the Chesham Stakes but he had to readjust his sights to the Coopers Marquees Median Auction Maiden Stakes after it became evident the colt was not eligible for the Royal meeting.Silenceofthewind was sent off the 13-8 favourite for the six-furlong test and sent on at half way by Jim Crowley, he kept up the gallop in good style to run out a three-length winner over the well-backed Antoniola.Burke said: "We wanted to run him in the Chesham Stakes but he did not qualify to run as the conditions of the race were that the sire had to have won over further than nine furlongs, 110 yards. He is a nice horse with a lot of class and we have always liked him."He added: "Nothing went right for him first time out at Pontefract, he ran very green and we thought he would win."We might have a look at a seven-furlong Listed race for him at Ascot in the middle of July or we could throw him into the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket."
