Beth has Ascot aim

Bethrah could try to prove she is the best of her generation by going for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.The Dermot Weld-trained filly came fast and late to claim to Irish 1000 Guineas and will try to supplement that success next month."She's a rapidly improving filly, she showed plenty of talent as a two-year-old last year. I was confident she would run a big race in the 1000 Guineas," said Weld."It looked a very open and competitive race, with a lot of very good fillies in there. She had to be at her best to win and she got a very good ride from Pat Smullen. I think the first five home are very good fillies."Ten furlongs may yet prove to be her best distance. She is progressing the right way, and a mile to a mile and a quarter is her optimum."I think the Coronation Stakes will be her next start, we'll see how she is, but she has come out of the race well and I think it's pretty much decided that will be her next race."It will be a tough race, there's very little between the top mile fillies, and later we will look at stepping her up to a mile and a quarter," the Curragh trainer told At The Races.Another filly who booked her ticket to Royal Ascot at the Curragh on Sunday was Moonlit Garden, who impressed when making a winning debut.Weld went on: "She's a very smart filly. We've only run a couple of two-year-olds this year and had a couple of nice winners. She was working the best of them and she stepped up nicely from her homework to put in a very pleasing performance."It will either be the Albany Stakes or the Queen Mary. It was six furlongs at the Curragh so obviously the Albany would be an ideal race for her, but she has a lot of pace. Either of those races will be her next start." he told At The Races.
