Angus McNae's Sunday tips: best bets for Cheltenham and Navan

There’s some top-class action at Cheltenham on Sunday and I have three fancies there, plus another at Navan. Enjoy all the action on Racing TV.
1.45 Cheltenham: Elle Perfecta
This mare made an impressive winning debut over fences at Kilbeggan and she retains potential as a chaser despite a defeat at Galway last time out in a competitive Grade Three contest. The step up in trip here is definitely in her favour and I can see her making her quick and accurate jumping count. She is lightly raced overall and this is an ideal opportunity for her.
2.20 Cheltenham: City Chief
This horse looks to have plenty of potential to make a splash in the staying chasing ranks this season. He won the Grade Two Towton Novices’ Chase at Wetherby last season and has plenty of scope to improve in handicaps. He is a thorough stayer, proven on deep going, and the step up in trip from three miles to nearly three and a half will suit. Looking further ahead, he could be one for the National Hunt Chase back at Cheltenham in March.
3.05 Navan: Fact To File
This horse is a really exciting prospect and having finished second in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham is sent chasing without ever competing over hurdles. That he tackles fences straight away after running in bumpers is an indication that this horse has always had a clear career path. He is a physically imposing individual and should make a winning start over the larger obstacles for Willie Mullins.
3.30 Cheltenham: Iberico Lord
This five-year-old comes here lightly raced and full of potential. As a novice last season he sauntered to success at Stratford on heavy ground before catching the eye at Sandown on his next start, where he finished second to his useful and unbeaten stable companion Under Control. He was given plenty to do that day, plus was hampered, but under a considerate ride ran on strongly to be beaten just half a length. That was a performance that suggested there is a lot more to come from this gelding and a mark of 126 looks to underestimate him.
