Wayne Lordan brought Aine (12-1) with a rare late rattle to deny Snaefell in the Listed Belgrave Stakes at Fairyhouse.
As favourite Three Rocks faded tamely a quarter of a mile from the finish, the well-backed Snaefell shot through a gap and took a couple of lengths out of his rivals.
That appeared to have sealed victory for the grey, but Aine really responded to Lordan's urgings and Tommy Stack's filly hit top gear in the final furlong to grab the spoils by neck.
"That was a bit of a result. She was second in two Listed races last year and it was important she won one. She may run in the Curragh next weekend in the Sweet Mimosa Stakes," said Stack's son and assistant Fozzy.
