Horse racing tips: Dave Nevison's best bets for Wednesday

Our website tipster Dave Nevison shares his fancies for the action at Doncaster, Carlisle and Kempton on Wednesday, with the latter two meetings live on Racing TV.
It seems incredible that we have reached St Leger week again already, and I expect there to be plenty of competitive races to get stuck into over the next four days at Doncaster, although we do appear to have a one-sided final Classic of the season on Saturday.
I’m also very much looking forward to Longines Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown and the Curragh this weekend, all live on Racing TV.
This race might be a little more competitive than the one Kimifive won when breaking a three-year losing streak last week, but it is still nothing like as competitive as those he regularly contested during that barren period.
He was certainly handicapped to win a race prior to his latest success, but it was the style that he beat his rivals in after travelling very comfortably that makes me think he has settled in really well at Ian Williams’ yard, and is set to enjoy a resurgence.
It is only just over two years since he was runner-up in the Stewards’ Cup off a rating of 92 so the fact he is running here, after a recent win, off a rating of just 70 makes it clear that there is plenty of scope in his handicap mark for him to make an impact as he retraces his steps back up the weights.
The forecast strong pace in this race should suit him very well, too.
I had high hopes for King Triton when he moved for a chunky price tag to Grant Tuer’s yard, but he has to go down as a bit of a disappointment overall.
However, there is still time for him and if he is over what has kept him off for the course of this summer, then he definitely still looks well handicapped returning on a 3lb lower rating than when last seen.
He is still lightly raced but has looked for some time as though a return to ten furlongs may bring about improvement in him. The fact his in-form trainer, Grant Tuer, steps him back up in trip on this first run for a while suggests to me that King Triton is expected to be fit enough to last home.
He should definitely be an each-way price in a competitive event and is worth siding with.
This useful, but clearly fragile, three-year-old looks thrown in off a rating of 84 here and, if all is well with her, I expect her to win this comfortably.
We last saw her at the end of last year - after she missed most of last season - and she won quite comfortably at Chelmsford when proving that she can go well after a long beak.
The rivals that she beat by some distance there (she pulled clear with the runner-up) have been running with credit off very similar marks as Manaafith runs off here, so it does seem a generous opening rating to start with.
Roger Varian has his string in good form and has nursed several similar types through their careers. Although this daughter of Exceed And Excel doesn’t have any fancy entries at this stage, if she wins this as expected, I cannot see her running at this level for too long.
